The issue of reflexology treatment as support to the patient's body to release itself of chronic diseases is very important.
The best model to this issue are the drug rehabilitation processes.
Starting at 1995 and up-to-date, the Institute of Human Ecology deals with specialization concerning drug addicts and people during their rehabilitation
processes and returning back to work and social connections after long periods of drug addiction.
The process of leaving the drug addiction is sometimes very long with ups of body cleansing and downs back to drugs, which accompany the indvidual. In order to succeed eventually, in most cases,
the addicted should reach deeps and downs which point the only possible way – regain composure and take the matter into hands or cease.
Long ago it was said that everyone everyday every individual should sense as if he himself left Egypt. Israel's exodus from Egypt, from slavery to freedom symbolizes the bodysoulish difficulties to be released
of familiar and known. And what's the connection to chronic diseases? The internal fights experienced by the bodysoul on its way to heal from chronic diseases are sometimes the most difficult ones. The difficulty
is to gather bodysoulish strengths from yourself against yourself. Drug rehabilitation processes are maybe the head and edge of problems and diseases pyramid which the body attaches itself to, “gets balanced”
with them and invents them into second nature despite the suffering. In other words, the body cannot live without the disease, does not recognize itself without the disease and gets thrusts into separation
difficulties.
Chronic diseases vary inside the involved systems, the characteristic functional failures of each disease as well as healing processes. The common denominator is the long period they are housed in the
body and the difficulties of letting go. Together with the chronic diseases there are other addictions that are compensation phenomenons.
The human being's nature is to produce familiar bases, which will become the foundation of the coming processes, the planned and sometimes surprising processes of life. In order to handle the every
day and every hour stopless balancing and adaptation processes the bodysoul needs the familiar and known. Compensation is one way for the bodysoul to overcome difficulties, while smoking, over
eating, cleaning habits, thinking processes and various bodysoulish tics ease lack of other things such as: love, attention, interest in life and physical touch.
The projects' structure
each therapist receives one patient
the treatments are performed once a week in regular hours
each session lasts 3 hours
each session lasts 3 hours
total of 15 treatment sessions
The therapists and patients are divided into two groups. During the first hour half of the group is treated while the other therapists' group observes therapist and patient from the first group.
During the second hour they switch roles. The third hour is dedicated to clarification of problems raised during treatments plus instructions for further treatments. There are also lectures concerning drugs,
addiction, rehabilitation processes, youth and drugs, families suffering of drugs.
Treatment approaches
The instructions concerning the treatment include combination of various treatment methods:
a. Adjusting personal plan for each patient with emphasis on “from inside out” direction of action.
b. Soft tissue manipulative treatment techniques.
c. Repeated manipulative treatment techniques of the skeleton around the ankle joint, during treatment
These steps are implemented gradually during the treatment series.
Clarifications for the treatment approaches
a. The therapist prepares personal treatment plan according to information gathered in briefings, feet spotting and talking with the patient's social worker.
The technical emphasis is “from inside out” action direction (from knee to toes) – the direction of spreading the energies accumulated in the body and soul.
b. The soft tissue manipulative treating techniques are activated in three stages according to orders given in the treatment map:
The ileocaecal valve and the sigmoid – these two spots symbolize the end of the heal and beginning of the foot's bridge. The end of the heal symbolizes waiving and
detaching, and the bridge's beginning symbolizes beginning of intentions and processes.
-
spleen and liver – these 3 points symbolize
the bridge's center and end, before the diaphragm reflection
line. The kidneys (at the bridge's center) symbolize the hesitation
at the middle of the process and the observation over what was
and what's about to be. The spleen and the liver symbolize the
end of the bridge, hesitations, delays and tarryings prior to
action and fulfillment processes that are the reason of crossing
the bridge. -
eyes and thyroid gland – reflect the
inside and outside connection dimension. The ears – dimension
of attention to the world of outside voices and attention to
the inner voices. The eyes – the dimension of observing the
outside world and the inner observation. The thyroid gland –
the dimension of bodysoulish inner balance and gate of expressing
the heart's emotions.
The technical order of soft tissues manipulative treatment:
Passive operation technique
Transferring responsibility to patient technique
Active treatment technique
These three stages are transferred to the patients as learning process at each of the points marked in the treatment map.
c.The skeleton manipulative treatment technique is activated as repeating motif, inlaid several times during the treatment, according to the therapist's judgement.
The treatment is activated only on the ankle joint. The ankle joints and heals represent the past dimension – where we come from including habits and tie-ups. This technique moves
the palm's bones by manipulations. The stimulus is the product of moving the palm's skeleton and feet bone rubbing over the treating finger, meaning, penetration to the bones, to the deepest - in
order to provide dimension of deep weakening of present situation.
These treatment techniques serve the therapist in order to help the patient during his rehabilitation process, which means transition from passive to active, initiating and taking-responsibility person.

Summary
Reflexology treatment for individuals during drug weaning and rehabilitation after weaning is used as model and basis for general understanding and treatment thinking concerning all the diseases,
phenomenons and chronic problems housed in the body - being familiar, addicted and familiar. In spite the big difference between treating drug addicts and treating chronic diseases and compensation
phenomenons, specialization if weaning is learning method for observation at a unique level of the bodysoul. It is reasonable to assume that this part of the population would not approach a private clinic
of each therapist, but directing the therapists' thinking and the connection to treatment planing will serve as basis to encounters with phenomenons of chronic diseases and various compensation phenomenons.
