What is Human Ecology

What is Human Ecology?

Ecology is the science of the environment, a science seeking to explore the conditions of our living environment. Life quality and life styles are related in a significant way to the environmental-ecological situation, and to the preservation of thereof. The term Human Ecology refers to the consciousness a person has for his/hers inner environment’s body-soul conditions. These conditions shape us in various ways. The concept of Human Ecology refers to the nurturing of our perceptive abilities with regard to the relations between our physiological condition and our mental and spiritual conditions, and our abilities to channel these beneficially.

The Institute of Human Ecology is the residence of the practicing of Coordinative Reflexology, it is a home for many students and graduates, and for Shmuel Zaidel, the creator and developer of this approach. Coordinative Reflexology is a unique method of treatment, presenting “revolutionary” perspectives and ways of thinking about the feet. As a result it also presents unique and complex therapeutic techniques. Coordinative Reflexology has found a warm house in the Institute of Human Ecology, where it continues to grow and develop. Coordinative Reflexology, being an integral part of the Institute of Human Ecology, has had until now a number of distinguished achievements:

  • The Institute of Human Ecology is the longest existing school for Reflexology in Israel.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology was the first organization to break the “wall of fear” surrounding the use of therapy for various medical/mental problems and situations like cancer, heart diseases, pregnancy, autism, hyper-activity, attention and concentration problems, drug habits, shell shocks, FMS, sclerosis, etc.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology was the first Israeli reflexology institute to devise a professional training program, a program that has become a standard accepted by the Israeli Organization of Reflexologists when founded, becoming a standard that must be met in every institute training Reflexologists in Israel.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology has been an active participant in the foundation of Reflexology schools in the Reidman, Keshet Be’Anan and Genesis colleges.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology has devised numerous research programs with regard to actual therapy with Coordinative Reflexology for problems such as scelerosis, shell shocks, Parkinson’s disease, FMS, drug rehabilitation and other phenomena.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology has hundreds of graduates of the Coordinative method’s training program, graduates that keep tight ties with the Institute and continue to study and develop within the frame of the Institute’s activities.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology has many branches all over Israel teaching Coordinative Reflexology.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology has established ongoing active relations with various medical institutes such as the Obstetrics and Gynecology wards in the Wolfson medical center, the SHIRAM clinic in the Asaf HaRofe hospital (an integrated medicine services clinic), the Tel-HaShomer medical center and the Meir and Barzilai medical centers.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology has established ongoing active relations with various organizations and associations such as the Israeli Parkinson Association and the ASAF Organization for FMS and the chronically fatigued.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology is an active member of the International Association of Reflexology, and as such takes an active part in the international conventions, giving lectures about the Coordinative approach and the unique therapy it presents for various problems.

  • The Institute conducts seminars dealing with the Coordinative approach outside of Israel, with graduates in Switzerland, and France. Further International courses are in planning.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology also performs as a publication house. Up until now two books dealing with Coordinative Reflexology have been published (Observing – Foundations 1 and 2), a reflexological chart of the feet, a reflexological chart of the palms, an English Atlas of reflexological charts and a booklet presenting the unique therapeutic methods for women Coordinative Reflexology presents.

  • The institute maintains a regularly updated educational web site, presenting various articles and researches about Coordinative Reflexology, various thoughts, contact information and a FAQ page.

  • The Institute of Human Ecology forms by its ongoing activity a warm, open minded, home for the method of Coordinative Reflexology, a method that never stands still, continuing to develop, to renew itself and to create in an ever more robust way.
